Wright – Artist Statement
New Landscapes and Reclamations Series Each image in the New Landscapes series began with a search for odd and uncomfortable juxtapositions. Digital techniques helped craft a new reality by extending and reformatting the sky. The tall aspect ratio, based on the golden rectangle, creates pressure on the sliver of landscape below. Although the imagery relied heavily on digital intervention, the final print looks natural and lacks the patina of digital “effects.” If “space has tonality…a sound character alternating with the tones of space, narrow and high, with graduating silver, light to darkness,”* Then what do those photographed- spaces sound like? *Louis Kahn
