Gallery Update - Summer 2007

Greetings! It has been a busy summer at Silicon Gallery and we're not slowing down yet! I came on board as Gallery Director in May and our May/June show, "Fabulous Fashion" proved very popular. In July, the gallery featured the work of Philadelphia photographer Michael Penn, whose images of the city and particularly its waterfront were a great draw for locals and tourists alike.

Now that August is here it's time to commence some needed renovations to the gallery space and printmaking studio. Since Silicon Gallery Fine Art Prints continues to grow (acquiring two new printers in the last month!) we need to reconfigure the space to accommodate both ventures. So, although the printmaking studio will remain open, we won't have any gallery shows in August and September. We will still be open on First Friday in September, though, so stop in if you're in the neighborhood.

Meanwhile, some virtual renovations have been underway with the redesign of our Web site - www.silicongallery.org. Hopefully you'll agree that the new site is a bit more streamlined, with relevant information easier to locate. Of course, as with any Web project, this remains a work in progress and we'll be adding additional information - and more images - as time goes on.

Our calendar is filling up with the next show, "At the Edge," opening in October. In November, photographers Nadine Rovner and Lauren Lyons will have their work in the gallery, followed by our annual "Small Works" show in December. January will feature the work of students in the Advanced Digital Photography class at UArts, taught by Rick De Coyte and Michal Smith. The Spring 2008 schedule is shaping up as well!

All in all, this is an exciting time for both the gallery and printmaking studio, with lots of new ventures shaping up. I hope that with the coming of fall's cooler weather more of you will be enticed to stop by for a First Friday or to visit the gallery during the week. Thanks for your continued interest in Silicon Gallery!
